Welcome to Withnell Health Centre

With patients' needs at the heart of everything we do, our website has been designed to make it easy for you to gain instant access to the information you need. As well as specific practice details such as opening hours and how to register, you’ll find a wealth of useful pages covering a wide range of health issues along with links to other relevant medical organisations.

It will still be mandatory for patients and clinicians to continue to wear their face masks/coverings when entering Withnell Health Centre in order to continue to keep both our patients and staff safe and we appreciate your continued support with this whilst COVID is still out there.

Our practice is part of a Primary Care Network (PCN).  PCN’s are GP Practices working with other Practices in their local area. By working together, we can deliver more local services for our patients. PCNs work together across larger geographical areas to improve and offer a wider range of services to patients. From the 1st October 2022 patients in our practices will be able to access health care services outside of ‘normal’ GP practice hours: weekdays from 6:30pm 8:00pm and Saturday from 9am to 5pm. This ‘enhanced access’ will be offered to all patients within the PCN.

As a registered patient, we are seeking your views, so as to help shape our ‘Enhanced Access’ to primary care appointments.

Your response to this brief survey could mean you get an appointment sooner and receive a better experience whilst visiting our practices.  Please click the link below to complete.

This survey will take approximately 5 minutes

This survey is anonymous and designed to understand our patients needs better. However, we would like to get to know you better in a general non-intrusive way.

Practice Update

Withnell Health Centre is open as usual as we continue to provide care to all our patients. We are offering both face to face and telephone appointments but we still are asking you not to come to surgery unless absolutely necessary or if you are asked to do so by a GP or staff member. If you would like to book an appointment with the doctor, please call reception on 01254 282630 at 8am on day that you wish to be seen. All appointments will be triaged by the reception team, this means that you will be asked to give a brief reason when booking an appointment. This is to ensure you are seen and dealt with as quickly as possible with the most appropriate clinician.

It is important to contact your GP surgery if you have any health problems, we have procedures in place to keep you safe. Please wear a face covering when entering the Practice.

We are still undertaking essential care including smears, B12 injections and contraceptive injections when these are due so please contact reception who can arrange these.

Blood Clinics are running on Tuesday and Thursday.  We are limiting the numbers in the waiting room so please attend your appointment at your allocated time, do not arrive early. This is to keep everyone safe.  Please wear a face covering and upon entering the building and use the hand sanitiser provided.

Ante-natal Clinics are running every other Wednesday.  Please follow the procedure above as for blood clinic.

To order repeat prescriptions please email us (, use our website or if registered use patient access.  You can also post via royal mail or pop your request in the post box at the surgery.

If you have ordered a repeat prescription it will automatically be sent to Withnell Pharmacy for collection unless you give us an alternative pharmacy.

If you have been asked to drop off a sample please ensure it is labelled correctly and leave it on the table just inside the entrance.

If you need an appointment with a doctor or nurse please telephone 01254 282630 as usual and we can arrange a telephone appointment for you.
